Terms of Use

This page provides important information about taking part in Living Well Taking Control programmes.

Our programmes are designed to provide supportive, evidence-based information and help you make informed changes to your health and wellbeing. The information below explains the scope of our programmes, how our materials can be used, and some important considerations when taking part.

Health information and advice

Information provided through Living Well Taking Control programmes is for general health and educational purposes. It is designed to support you to understand your health and make informed lifestyle changes.

Our programmes do not replace individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment from your GP or another qualified healthcare professional. Your coach cannot diagnose medical conditions, prescribe or change medication, recommend specific supplements, or advise you to start, stop or change medication or supplements.

If you have questions about your health, medication, supplements or treatment, please speak to an appropriate healthcare professional.

Taking part in physical activity

The physical activity included within Living Well Taking Control programmes is designed to provide general guidance and an opportunity to experience accessible ways of moving more. It is not intended to provide individualised exercise, medical or physiotherapy advice.

Participation is entirely voluntary. Participants should only take part if they feel comfortable and able to do so, work within their own abilities and choose seated or adapted options where appropriate. Participants can pause or stop the activity at any time.

If you have a health condition, injury, pain or mobility limitation, or have been advised to restrict or modify physical activity, please follow the advice provided by your healthcare professional. If you are unsure whether an activity is suitable for you, seek appropriate healthcare advice before taking part.

Stop exercising immediately if you experience pain, dizziness, faintness, unusual shortness of breath, chest pain or feel otherwise unwell, and seek appropriate medical advice where necessary.

Living Well Taking Control takes reasonable steps to provide safe and appropriate activities and guidance. Participants remain responsible for deciding whether to take part and for exercising within their own abilities. Living Well Taking Control cannot accept responsibility for injury or loss arising from participation where reasonable instructions and safety guidance have not been followed. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Programme materials, slides and recordings

Living Well Taking Control programme materials are developed to support delivery of our programmes and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

Session presentation slides are delivery materials for use by Living Well Taking Control coaches and are not participant resources. They are designed to be presented alongside explanation, discussion and supporting activities and may contain material that is licensed or approved specifically for this purpose. For these reasons, copies of presentation slides are not routinely provided to participants.

Please do not photograph, screenshot, copy or record session slides, including during in-person or online sessions.

Where appropriate, your coach can provide or signpost you to approved participant resources, including session summaries, handouts and trusted external information.

Programme materials provided to you are for your personal use unless otherwise stated. They should not be reproduced, adapted, published or distributed without permission from Living Well Taking Control.

External resources and signposting

As part of your programme, we will direct you to information, services and resources provided by other organisations.

We signpost to relevant, reputable and appropriate sources that complement Living Well Taking Control programmes. A link or signpost to an external organisation does not mean that Living Well Taking Control is responsible for the organisation’s content or services, or for subsequent changes to its website or resources.

External information does not replace the Living Well Taking Control programme or advice from an appropriate healthcare professional where this is needed.

Online sessions and third-party platforms

Some programme sessions may be delivered using third-party online platforms, such as Microsoft Teams. These services are provided by external organisations and have their own terms of use and privacy information. When accessing an online session through a third-party platform, the provider’s terms and privacy practices may also apply.

Privacy and safety during group sessions

Our programmes provide a supportive environment where participants can learn from and interact with each other. We ask everyone taking part to respect the privacy of other participants.

Please do not photograph, film, screenshot or record your coach or other participants, or share personal information, experiences or conversations from the group outside the session in a way that could identify another person.

During online sessions, please take reasonable steps to join from a suitable environment and be mindful of who may be able to see or hear the session.

If you have any concerns about privacy, safety or taking part in a group session, please speak to your coach.

Respectful behaviour

We want our programmes to provide a welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment for everyone taking part.

Participants are expected to communicate respectfully with coaches and other participants and to respect differences in background, identity, beliefs, experiences and views. Discriminatory, abusive, threatening, harassing or otherwise inappropriate language or behaviour towards another participant or member of staff is not acceptable.

Where behaviour significantly affects the safety, wellbeing or participation of others, Living Well Taking Control may take appropriate action to manage the situation.

Changes to sessions

We aim to deliver sessions as planned. Occasionally, circumstances outside our control or operational requirements may mean that a session needs to be rescheduled, changed or cancelled. Where this happens, Living Well Taking Control will make reasonable efforts to let affected participants know and provide information about alternative arrangements where appropriate.

Choosing to leave the programme
